runAway

runAway is a performance centring on six young people (aged 12-19) of diverse ethnicities and birth nationalities. It is an investigation into these young people’s personal histories, drawing on performance subcultures from ballroom to karaoke. The performance interrogates themes of migration, diaspora and belonging, exposing alternative narratives pertaining to marginalised communities in glasgow.

runAway is a portrait of the young person navigating otherness.

Introducing runAway

tthis is a runway.

these people are models.
they are modelling
their personal histories – complex stories
of

      hope
      passion
      joy
      anger
      (be)longing

– and by doing so, they are also modelling
our collective futures.
your future.
these people are young.
these young people are
our models.
watch closely.
